General Mattis might be a great choice - but because Trump describes him as "the closest thing we have to General George Patton" I worry. Patton was a loose cannon and Eisenhower was constantly reining him in. Trump is not Ike and might give Mattis too much free rein or be too easily influenced by his militaristic beliefs. This is a nation run by civilians, not generals.

Trump is still missing the, "Has to be approved by Congress legislature" again. All them pesky laws.

Great choice. Hopefully he will rally the forces to make the whole world great again!

I can't get this Dr. Strangelove moment out of my head:

Theranos was a sham, the technology's a fraud and the FBI are involved now.

Trump's race to the bottom is breathtaking. Internet trolls, white supremacists and now this maniac fraudster.

He's a hard core fighter with common sense. If my kid was joining the military, I'd feel better that this guy was leading the fight rather some hegemonic Yale University, summa cum laude, Rhodes Scholar, Oxford, D.Phil. in theoretical physics like Ashton Carter.

Fizz, exactly right.

Great choice. Good sense, not a man to rush to judgment.

So, Trump is making the Butcher of Fallujah his Secretary of War....oops, defence, and there are people praising him for that choice.

-1 ( +6 / -7 )

here are people praising him for that choice.

The same people who had claimed to be anti-warmonger/hegemony/cabal/DC establishment/Wall Street. Their allegiance to the Don has trumped the principles they had claimed to have.

To paraphrase Peter TownsHend: Meet the new boss, much worse than the old boss. Either they all got fooled again, or more likely they're getting just what they'd hoped for all along.

It's pretty clear the Donistas are just tools of the alt right press.

Curious that chicken hawks are willing to let their children do the fighting for them. But then that's consistent with being a chicken hawk, innit.

Care to explain?

They were all fooled over the past 8 years, but now they all woke up....finally!

It's pretty clear the Donistas are just tools of the alt right press.

More trash talk from the Alt left, they need to get over their whiney loss and move forward. When Obama won, I wasn't happy, but I slugged my way through this and you guys can too. It ain't that hard.

So how has Obama handled his war in Syria and Afghanistan. Oh, I'm sorry, the war that Obama wants to BS to people is NOT a war where he sends in advisors, hundreds of advisors, but doesn't want anyone to believe that there is any conflict. His war has been a complete disaster and the fact that he won't come out and tell the truth and thinks that we are all stupid is that much more insulting.

I don't worry too much about the general's canine nickname. In WW2, the US had "Old Blood and Guts" Patton and Gen. Holland M. -- nicknamed "Howlin Mad -- Smith. Then there was "Stormin' Norman" Schwarzkopf in the first Gulf War. The main concern will be Mattis' notoriously thin-skinned commander in chief.

Really? You're hardly "qualified" to make any childish accusations since you support Obama and supported Hillary. Are you even aware that Obama has put US troops in Yemen this last week, or that he's fully supporting Saudi Arabia's murderous actions with supplies and logistics? Do even care? I'm guessing no, you don't care, since you supported Hillary.

Curious that chicken hawks are willing to let their children do the fighting for them. But then that's consistent with being a chicken hawk, innit.

And here you come with more childish accusations. You really need to choose your words more carefully and put some thought into it rather than letting your fragile emotions flow through your fingertips.

And there's a JT poster (a fellow Donista with similar situational values) who votes in both Japan and the US, was a CEO, worked for the Washington Post and NBC, was on assignment in Iraq, has lived all over the world and was a victor in a knife fight among other things. You're an avowed conspiracy theorist, therefore no credibility.

It must suck being you.

17 year old HR-V if you care. I'm finding many of the lefties don't really care about issues outside their safe zones. I'm guessing they never really did care about others, just electing the first woman President. Very sad.

A loose cannon that spouts insensitive things? Sounds like a match made in Trump heaven.

1 ( +6 / -5 )

'Mad Dog'? Really? Just another annoying example of the infantile nature of Trump and all that he touches. This is not reality TV or a John Wayne movie...If you have to pick people with alpha-male nick names you should be a member of the cast in the war room on Dr. Strangelove-not in charge of the Pentagon in real life. What's this guy going to do ride an ICBM while waving his Stetson and shouting 'Ya-hooo!' Its so cliche is not even funny.

-1 ( +3 / -4 )

It really friggen amazes me how lefties can come on here and criticize Trumps picks, yet I haven't heard a friggen word out of their righteous mouths about Obama's wars. As far as I'm concerned, you lefties are all hypocrites with your hands stuck between your legs playing pocket pool while others die. Yemen! Libya! Syria! Wake up you shit heads!

-2 ( +0 / -2 )

Nice, doggy.

0 ( +2 / -2 )

Well dont sweat it. Mad Dog who knows a bit about dying and enjoys shooting people, and Trump who likes people who aren't captured are on the case. And the people that choose to go and die for them will go and die. Me personally, given the choice between playing pocketpool and dying for a multi-billionaire-I know which is the smart choice.

The pocketpool reference was meant that you play pocketpool while Obama is waging war, but you're so enthralled with your pocketpool, that you just don't care.

Trump supporters, you have been conned by a conman -- and there is now NOTHING you can do about the horror unfolding in front of us all.
