Deputies: Woman found alive 6 days after husband shot her in the head
Investigators are still searching through a Nebraska home, looking for answers surrounding Karl Langill's death and how Cheri Langill survived almost a week with a bullet in her head.
Wednesday Sarpy County Sheriff's arrived at the couple's Papillion home to check on them. They found Cheri, 67, in the basement. They said Karl, 68, shot her with a .22 caliber pistol on December 7. Officers found him dead in the garage of carbon monoxide poisoning on December 13.
Cheri Langill is currently in stable condition at the University of Nebraska Medical Center.
Friends of Cheri's were shocked to hear the news.
“Just a little overwhelmed,” Trudie Lemon said. “Devastating, devastating. Words can't explain how I feel right now. Very sad."
Lemon worked with Cheri at a thrift store.
“She had a big heart, very big heart. When it came to people in need she was always there. Always,” Lemon said.
Lemon reminisced about better times, thankful she survived.
"This, I would have never of guessed would have happened. You know, she was a real good woman,” Lemon said.
Hearing the news, Lemon couldn't help but think of Cheri's faith and her devotion to others.
“I knew she had that God in her. Because I think that's what kept her going. He wasn't ready to take her yet,” Lemon said.
